Wonderful Weekend

What a blessed weekend we have had here!

On Friday night our daughter (in law) had college graduation. We are so proud of her.  Chris just beamed with pride and the love that he has for her. They were made for each other and I know that God picked her just for him.

Receiving Diploma!

The happy couple who celebrated their first wedding anniversary on Monday!

Sisters!!

On Saturday, Laura stayed the weekend and we gardened.   Laura  was very excited about digging in the dirt!

Larry did the tilling!

Dad gives Laura a few tips!

Then we all worked at weeding!

On Saturday night we all met at a local restaurant with Livi's family and celebrated the graduation with dinner.  It was lovely and so much fun!  Eric missed out because he was on a trip to Busch Gardens.

Then on Sunday-Mother's Day I got these!

You have to know that Larry and I consider ourselves richly blessed.  God has given us so much.  We are thankful to Him for all that he has allowed us.
I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as much as we did.
I am a happy girl today!

LB's New Toy!

My husband of 40 years has always worked hard to provide for me and our three great kids.  He has had a lifelong dream of doing beautiful photography.  Mind you he has not picked up a camera in many, many years, but just this week he bought himself a new Nikon camera with all the bells and whistles.  He deserves it!
So, I wanted to share some of his pictures from experimentation this weekend.  I am very proud of his efforts.  These pictures are not doctored on in any way.  This is just the way he saw it.

When he learns the ins and outs of this amazing camera, he just might be an awesome photographer.  What a nice way to spend a retirement.  Let us know what you think.
Blessed and Happy,
~Pat

Kristen's Wedding Favors

I just finished the wedding favors for my girl Kristen.  I used to babysit this child.  I kept her for several years until her brother came along and then kept him as well. Now she is a lovely young woman and getting married.  Time just goes by so fast.  I have very fond memories of all the children I have cared for in the past and now I have the pleasure of keeping my niece's little baby.  There have been quite a few little kids who grew up in my home and I love them all.  It allowed me to stay home with my own children, whom I am very proud to call mine.
Anyways, here are the favors that I did for Kristen.

Well tell me what you think.  She got the pattern from the internet, but I'm not sure who gets the credit for the idea.  I changed it up a bit and have seen these guys before.  If you know the original designer, please let me know.  I made 100 of these favors and enjoyed doing it mostly because it was done in love for Kristen.

Blessings to all!

Project Started......

It's a beautiful Monday morning!

I am putting together wedding favors for a friend.  I actually used to babysit this young lady as well.
Am I telling my age?  Oh well, you are as young as you feel.  Here are the bride clothespins.

And here are the groom clothespins....

Not much yet, but we're still working on them.  Check back to see the progress.
Hope your day is just peachy!
Blessings,
Pat

Hand Work

I really enjoy quilting with my long arm machine.  It's quick and I am learning a lot about new designs.  Enjoying the process of learning new pantographs and experimenting with placement and design. But, on the other hand, there is a lot to be said for hand quilting.  I love doing it!  It takes longer to finish a project, but the results are so worth the time and effort.
Currently, I have been inspired by redwork, and hand embroidery as well, so I wanted to do a wall quilt that would be hand worked in embroidery and then hand quilted.
Here is a peek at what I decided to do

The blue marks will disappear when water is applied!

I'm very pleased with the way it's going so far.  I will post pictures of the finished project later.

Thanks for visiting and as my daughter, Laura, would say:  Hope your day is just peachy!

My Craft Space-Part 2

I cleaned up my organized chaos so I took these pics of my sewing space for you to see.

My sewing machines are located on an antique table at one end of the room.  There is a built in bookcase behind the curtain and all the machines are set up so that I can just roll my desk chair from one to the other as they're needed in projects.  Works for me!

These two dressers were moved from bedrooms in the home and they now serve as storage for sewing notions and trims that every seamstress needs. There is space here for elastic, lace, trims, needle arts,
left over batting, interfacing, muslin, buttons, zippers, and a whole lot of other stuff.

I have been known to sleep on this old sofa when the project runs into the late hours of the night.
It's actually pretty comfortable!

My cutting counters I love!  As I mentioned in the last post, these were a steal at a going out of business sale and I can reconfigure them in different ways for sewing or quilting.
There is more to see in my next post. Follow my blog to keep in touch!

Love and Blessings,
Pat

My Craft Space-Part 1

I am very fortunate to have a great space in my basement for a studio.  There is plenty of room for quilting, sewing, crafting, and lots of storage as well.
I have a quilting set up with quilting machine and frame for long-arm all over quilting on one side of the room.

Currently I am working on a Dresden Plate quilt.

I have two sets of these shelves on either end of the quilting machine that holds fabric.

In the built in bookcase is upholstery fabric from the local furniture store that my daughter in law gets for me.

I have 2 counters on casters that I can roll all around the room.  They have shelves on the front and the back and I bought them at a going out of business sale for $25 each.  I love these things and use them for my cutting tables and to set up my quilts.

Hope you have enjoyed my little mini tour.  More to come!

Blessings,
Pat
