Only 6 more days until Christmas!!  Where did that come from?  It's my favorite time of the year.  I have fond memories as a child of my mother's enthusiastic joy at this time of year.  She planned for months, so that we could have a nice Christmas.  And I don't ever remember being disappointed in the slightest. She made warm gingerbread and we would build a gingerbread church with stained glass windows and candy trees and trims.
There was always fruit and nuts and lots of presents.  But then we never let all the tinsel and sparkle get in the way of the real meaning of Christmas.  We always remembered that Christmas day was a birthday celebration for the greatest gift of all.  It is my prayer that I will always carry this tradition for my family as well.  We are ever thankful for God's gift of a Savior.  Here's hoping that you will all have a Merry and Blessed Christmas season.

Resting and Recovering

I have been busy every weekend just about all year and now I am done for the year.  After the open house, I have a little free time to devote to me.  This has been a lazy week.  But to be honest, I think I could get bored with nothing to do.  So, tomorrow, I have plans to get back to work and get a head start on next year.
Thought I would post a pic or two, just for Christmas Cheer.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Blessings,
Pat

Tired, but excited

Ok, I am really tired!  Getting ready for an open house is not easy for an old woman.  Just a little tweeking today and shopping tomorrow for ingredients for taco soup to serve.  Done! Bring on the customers!  The hours are 10am-6pm on Sat. and 1pm-6pm on Sun.  Ya'll come!
Here is a preview of crafts available.

This is just a tiddly bit of what we have ready for you all!
Hope everyone is having a blessed week!

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

This weekend was my last craft show of the year and it was a real blessing.  I made new friends and sales were good.  God is good... all the time.
Now I can concentrate on my Christmas Open House Craft Show on Sat. Dec. 10 from 10-6, and Sun. Dec. 11 from 1-6.  This is something I do on this same weekend every year.  It will be my 10th year.

The house gets spruced up and filled up with crafts from old and new artisan friends of mine. We feed everyone who comes through the door, and offer a show that is relaxed and full of last minute gifts for teachers, co-workers, friends, and family.
I worked, yesterday on getting the quilts displayed and have already put up 8 or 9 trees throughout the house.  I hope you will take time to visit us for the fun this Christmas season.  We would love to have you!

Blessings to All!

Fully in Christmas Mode!

I am now in Christmas mode all the way..  There is so much to do before the open house.  Here are some of the decorations that are going up today.

This tree is in the corner of the living room.  There are handmade rustic ornaments made from painted muslin and homespun fabric.  There is a little prairie doll underneath the tree busily embroidering a gift for her friend.
The hall tree that it sits on is one that belonged to my mother, and Larry refinished it for me. The hats belonged to both our fathers.

Blessings to all,

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

I've been listening to Christmas music for a month now and today am posting some of the decor in my house.  I am busily getting ready for the Open House on Dec.10 & 11. So here goes.....

This tree is in the kitchen. It's filled with gingerbread people that I cut and hand paint from 1/4" birch plywood, popcorn garland strung by hand, & hand crocheted cupcake ornaments.

This is a tree on top of the fridge (hope the dust doesn't show up) that my friend Cathy S. put together.  It is nested in an old sifter with cinnamon ornaments and homespun fabrics.  She covered it in glass glitter, and I just love it!

More to come, but I must pick up my son for a dental appointment.  Prayers please.  He has to have wisdom teeth extracted today.

Blessings to all,
Pat

bitty bags

Just wanted to post some of my new bags on the blog.

These bags are made from upholstery fabric in assorted colors.  They are 8"x8" and are a perfect size for short shopping trips or long trips to the mall.  Easily carried on the shoulder or across the body for hands free shopping.  They are just big enough to carry essentials (wallet, keys, cell phone and credit cards) and small enough to be out of your way while shopping.  I am asking $12.00 for these and shipping is free. Just message me to order.

Have a blessed and happy day!

Spencer-Penn Show

OK, The Spencer-Penn craft show yesterday was fun, but not so profitable.  First of all it began to rain as soon as we were set up and we were all a little damp around the edges.  Now all my fabric crafts and the wood as well will have to be unpacked from the trailer and dried.  Second, the sales were not that great.  And even after the rain, traffic was nowhere near what it needed to be.  On the other hand it's always a lot of fun working with Phyllis Warren and we always enjoy ourselves no matter what.  And meeting new and familiar friends is so interesting.  Also, we got invitations out for the Open House.  That's a good thing! And Third, I spent more than I made on antiques!  I also bought a beautiful shrug from my good friend, Lois.  She is such an accomplished knitter.
Anyways,  here are a couple of pix of SOME of the things I've been working on.

Thanks for visiting and have a blessed day!

bitty bags

Today I made a bunch of Bitty Bags(as in Itty Bitty).  These little purses are my own design and I love them for quick trips to the store, shopping, and festivals.
They are only 8"x8" and are the perfect size for carrying credit cards and cash, sunglasses,& keys.
The over the shoulder straps on these are great for hands free shopping and security.  They have a velcro fastener with a button
embellishment.
Constructed from upholstery fabrics in a variety of fall colors.  (Thanks Livi for the beautiful fabrics.)  Sturdy and lots of fun to carry.

Topstitch detail and fully lined. These have proved to be very popular and I am selling them for $12.00 each.  Shipping on this item is free, so if you'd like to own one of these darling purses, Email me      Pat Guilliams

What I'm Working On

This week I have finished these two purses.  They are sold, but I have lots more fabric and can make more. I just love the black and white.

I have also been working on a new quilt.  Last week I put together the dahlias with a dresden plate pattern.

Here is the finisihed motif.
And here is the finished appliqued block.  One down, 19 to go. This is going to be a big one!

The final project to work on this week is a quilt top that I am quilting for my good friend Patty. It's in the quilt frame and ready to work on.

Hope everyone has a blessed and happy week.

Steppin' Out 2011

I had an awesome time this weekend.  Best show I have done this year!  I have a rock star daughter who helped me both days.  Without her it would have been impossible for me. I don't think I could have done it alone.
Although it was very warm, there was a load of people coming through.  We were in Market Square Park with other new vendors to the show and the children's activities were there as well, so it was a pretty busy spot.  Especially on Sat.
Thanks to all who stopped by and thank you for your support and interest in my work.
This week I hope to spend some time updating my blog, but today I think I'll try to rest.

Maroon and Orange

Busily creating Virginia tech colored items for Steppin' Out 2011.  Aug. 5-6 from 10am-10pm both days.
My newest item is this little teddy. I love him and hope that VT fans do too!

Also I have my old standby snowman recycled light bulb ornaments. And these new quilted ornaments in VT colors.

I have been making neck cooler ties and checkbook covers and jewelry bags and business card holders--All in Maroon and Orange.  Hope these are good sellers in Blacksburg next week.
Come on out and see us.  Our booth is located at the corner of Roanoke St. and Draper Road, next to the farmers market.

Please help me pray for sales and a blessed day to all!
